Wedding Tips - Guest Post!

Hey everyone,

So today, I bring you another Guest Post. This time about Weddings and tips you could use if you are getting married or someone you know is getting married, as my half sister is getting married this September, I am thinking what am I going to wear?

The bride and groom and what they are wearing is always going to be a hot topic of conversation at any wedding, but you won't go unnoticed in the fashion stakes either that's for sure. You don't want to draw unnecessary attention to yourself with a poor choice of outfit, but equally you want to do yourself proud on this special day, so what should you be looking for?

First of all, makes sure you speak to the bride in particular about any colour scheme she might want you to coordinate with or avoid dressing in. You don't want to arrive in a shocking lime green number when her theme is a dusky pink as you'll stick out like a sore thumb.

You do want to make sure the colour you choose to wear compliments not only the colour theme of the wedding, but also your skin tone and hair colour. If you have a yellow or orange tinge to your skin you'll suit warm tones like gold, deep greens, reds, oranges and browns. If you have a pink or blue tinge to your skin, you suit cool tones and should choose from colours like white, black, silver, lemon, ruby red, sapphire blue and pastel shades. The same goes for make up. Warm skin tones should stick with golds, browns, greens and pinks on the eyes, while their cooler counterparts should wear blues, greys, pinks, silver and plums. The same goes for lips. Experiment with the colours that work with your skin tone and work that into your make up for the day. Perhaps even have a practice run if you're doing your own make up to feel confident in your look on the big day.

As for your hair, make sure you have it cut and coloured at least two weeks beforehand to ensure it's just how you like it and at minimal risk of regrowth. If you're having your hair styled on the day, have a trial run with the hairdresser to make sure he or she gets your hair just as you'd imagined it for the big day.

In terms of what to wear, you can't go wrong with a simple yet beautiful dress, or perhaps skirts and pretty tops are more your style? George's range of skirts offers the perfect base from which to build your wedding day attire. With pretty pastels, embroidery, netting, florals and panelling, you're sure to find a special something that is both beautiful and flattering. Of course the tone of the wedding will shape your decision on what to wear. If it's a formal wedding you might want to add a jacket to your outfit, or if it's black tie, you might want to consider a cocktail dress. Another good reason to discuss outfits with the bride well in advance.

Lastly, start shopping for your outfit well ahead of time. You don't want to be hunting for that perfect outfit with just a week to go before the wedding. That’s a sure recipe for wedding stress.

Live life and chase your dreams.
See you Saturday!
